Integration
Altinn and Maskinporten integration
Integrations with Altinn and other public APIs using Maskinporten, so forms, submissions and lookups can be done from your own systems.
Much of the contact with the public sector goes through Altinn, and many public APIs require Maskinporten before a system gets access. I build the integrations that let your systems talk to them directly, instead of someone logging in and filling things out by hand.
What can be automated
- Submitting forms and reports to Altinn
- Fetching messages and replies from the Altinn inbox
- Lookups in public registers that require Maskinporten
- Delegations and access control for systems acting on behalf of others
- Citizen login with ID-porten
Access and setup
Maskinporten gives your system its own identity tied to your organisation number. Setup happens in Digdir's self-service portal, and for many APIs the data owner also has to grant access to your organisation. It takes some time the first time, so it's worth starting early.
Common questions
- What is Maskinporten?
- Maskinporten is Digdir's solution that lets systems, not people, use public APIs on behalf of an organisation.
- Do we need an enterprise certificate?
- It used to be the norm, but today many integrations can use keys created in the self-service portal instead. What applies depends on the API.
- Can you help apply for access?
- Yes. I set up the client in Maskinporten and help with the application to the data owner where that's needed.
